Our Garden...

We are excited about our garden this year...

The Lord provided rich black dirt through our friends the Leivas, and we now have six nicely boxed  garden plots. We were able to get a truck load of coffee grounds that have been composting for months (years?) so that has doubly enriched our soil. Ahhh, already sounds delicious doesn't it? Brewed veggies...squash latte?...okra mocha?

It is exciting to work hard preparing the ground, planting seeds and looking forward to the fruit of our labors. Jon-Michael is the main caretaker and has been faithfully watering the tiny seeds, and it's been so neat to already see the green shoots poking up out of the ground. I love how each little plant leans into the sun and daily shows us His handiwork.

"...So is the Kingdom of God, as if a man should
cast seed into the ground;
And should sleep, and rise night and day, and seed
should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the
blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear."
Mark 4:26--28

I think Titus was getting more in our way than actually helping,
but he had fun getting totally covered in dirt.
He looked like a little raccoon at the dinner table that night...

Hmmm, Samuel our supervisor?

There's no sand about this stuff...

 Luke pulling those weeds...

 Workin' hard...

These look like greens, but they're just glorified weeds...

 Samuel and his beloved boots...

 Stay tuned...our seeds are sprouting!

With all that good soil, I'd guess the weeds are rejoicing as well. :)
How early do you start planting? Here in Ohio we have lettuce and peas planted already, but this was an unusually warm year.
