Ayuda Honduras!

After much prayer and planning in the last few months, eight of our men from church set out to Honduras last Friday. Their mission during the ten days there is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people and to visit the needy and the orphans.

Oh! What stories we have heard! We have limited contact with our boys, but we have talked on the phone with them a little and Ben has been able to connect to the internet a few times and send pictures! We have cried over the power of God. They have been able to travel to quite a number of towns and share at a few churches. At one point the men traveled a total of six hours to share Christ with a man way up in the mountains. Not only was he saved but his wife and daughter-in-law as well!

A few of the things we managed to stuff pack into the boys bags were quite a few deflated soccer balls to pass out to the children and twenty five handmade stuffed bunnies to give away as well. The bunnies were actually a last minute decision to make after Anita and Treasure found the pattern for them online about a week before the men were to leave! We sewed like crazy! We were also knitting to make each bunny it's personal scarf. They came out adorable and we couldn't wait to hear the stories of the children who received them! We can only say God was completely in that last minute decision to make the bunnies, because we continue to hear how much they have blessed the children there.

I wanted to share something that Ben wrote when we were able to connect briefly. I love it! God is moving there, not only in the Honduran people but in the group of men who took this trip as well.

"Hey! A lot has been happening! We have met a lot of awesome people. I fell in love with a little boy named Eber."

"He is three years old. I was able to give him a soccer ball, and he loved it!"

"He thought taking pictures with my iPod was funny. Little Eber loved being able to see himself."

"We went to a church tonight. There was no roof or floor in the church, but the people there were really nice. I met a girl about Peter's age (9), maybe younger. Her name is Gabriella. I gave her a bracelet I was wearing and after that we were inseparable:)"

"It's been really fun to give the bunnies away."

"The way they receive them is like you are giving them GOLD! One little girl, after we gave her one, went running into the house saying: "Mama, mama! Look! Look! Look!" Sometimes it makes you want to cry. Because these kids don't have anything."

"We stopped on the side of the road to see some coffee beans drying!"

We are so very excited about what God is doing in Honduras and look forward to hearing more about His amazing power!

"For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."

  1. Beautiful stories! To God give the Glory!

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? Romans 10:14
