Our family loves monkey bread! Flaky, hot pieces of bread swimming in butter and covered in sugar...crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Ahhh yes:)  It's been a tradition in our home to make it on Christmas morning. It's really so very simple even our little guys get in and help! The Apple Caramel bread is just a notch up from the regular butter, cinnamon-sugar recipe. It takes a little more preparation, but that just gives you more time to sip your coffee and enjoy the anticipation!

 Apple Caramel Monkey Bread

Yields: 2 loaf pans

Ingredients:


4 cans Pillsbury biscuits (Comes in a four pack. Smaller than the regular size biscuits)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ginger
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon Apple Pie Spice (if you don't have this it's ok. We happened to have it. Otherwise you might try 1/2 teaspoon of cloves)
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup butter (oh yummy butter)
1 can of Apple Pie filling

Directions:


1. Heat oven to 350. Grease 2 loaf pans with butter or shortening.

2. In large food-storage plastic bag, mix granulated sugar, ginger, cinnamon and apple pie spice (or cloves or more cinnamon...whichever you prefer). Cut 2 cans worth of biscuits into 4's. Place in sugar spice mixture; shake well until all are completely coated. Place biscuit pieces in pan. Do this for both pans.

3. In 1-quart saucepan, melt butter, brown sugar and apple pie filling over medium heat. When mixture begins to boil, cook and stir 1 minute. Pour over biscuits, separating evenly between both pans.

4. Bake 35 minutes or until golden brown. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Slide a butter knife around the edges of the bread. Place a plate upside down over pan; turn plate and pan over. Remove pan. Serve warm. ENJOY!!!
