Day #37 Friday night and “Mr. Jack”…

Our family concert was Friday night here in San Antonio. It was wonderful seeing many friends and acquaintances from right here in San Ann and neighboring towns, as well as seeing our Uncle, Aunt and cousins who drove long distances to come. It was great to see everyone especially since some, we won’t see until next year! So we waved good-by purposing to write “snail mail letters” and write emails for “next time…”.

One friend surprised us for sure…he knew all our names on first sight, “because I studied your picture before coming tonight!” he said…that was Mr. Jack. He’s 91 years old and sharp as a tack! We have fond memories of spending time with him in Georgia many years ago. He was a favorite companion playing in a river one summer, and a child’s delight when you’re lifted to sit on shoulders, and your only 3-foot something…he seemed a giant of towering heights, yet soft and kind when reading books before bed. Yes, it was great to see Mr. Jack again…

Just before we ended the music concert last night, we all joined in the hymn, “What a Day That Will Be”…it spoke of heart desires and assurance of eternity with Jesus one day…

“There is coming a day when no heartache shall come,
No more clouds in the sky, no more tears to dim the eye,
All is peace forevermore on that happy golden shore,
What a day, glorious day that will be!

There’ll be no sorrow there, No more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no pain, no more parting over there,
And forever I will be, with the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be!

What a day that will be, when my Jesus I shall see,
When I look upon His face, the One who saved me by His grace,
And when He takes me by the hand, and leads me through the Promise Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be!
